Action on X Events in February

February marks the 20th anniversary of the X Case.  In those 20 years, little has been done to provide safe and legal access to abortion in Ireland, despite the majority of the public believing some access should be made available to women.  The government continues to export the problem to the UK and Europe.

Action on X is an alliance of groups who have organised to mark 20 years of inaction on the abortion issue.  Cork Women's Right to Choose Group is part of that alliance.

Action on X will be holding a Public Meeting in the Gresham Hotel in Dublin on 21st February at 7PM.  Speakers include: Vincent Browne, Journalist and Broadcaster; Anthea McTeirnan, Journalist and Reproductive Rights Activist; Dr Fiona De Londras, UCD School of Law; Mick Wallace, Independent TD for Wexford; Ailbhe Smyth, Feminist Open Forum.

What's Happening in Cork?

In Cork, several groups have gotten together to organise events as well.  Cork Feminista has produced a poster highlight those events:

You can download a PDF of this poster to share here.   Also, Cork Feminista's website has lots of information on the X case, including a timeline from 1992 and a Scannal documentary.

Cork Women's Right to Choose in association with Cork Feminista will be hosting a Lobbying Workshop: How Do I Tell Them I'm Pro-Choice? on Thursday 23rd February at 7 PM in the Quay Co-op Meeting Room on Cove Street:

Please come along and get some great tips for lobbying your TDs around abortion!
